New projects are coming up and we are looking for the right people to join us. We work from integrity, craftsmanship and real care for the people around us. Does that appeal to you? Our vacancies are below.
You build and maintain the data pipelines the rest of the team relies on. You work with dbt, Snowflake, Databricks and BigQuery, and AI tools like Claude Code are a normal part of your work. Our clients include companies in media, entertainment and energy.
You are analyst, engineer and sparring partner to the client at the same time. You find out what the client really needs, decide which solution fits and lead the project from start to finish. You also help shape where i-spark is heading.
You are curious and like to take the initiative. Don't see your role listed? Tell us who you are and what you want to do, technical or not. Then we'll look together at what fits.
Are you curious and do you want to build something you're proud of? We'll help you get there, with honest feedback and room to learn. You work on real projects, matched to your studies and what you want to learn. So far our interns have come from data and security, but other fields of study are welcome too.
On Tuesdays we're together at the office, the rest of the week you work remotely. Early bird, night owl, picking the kids up from school at 3 pm: you work your hours when it suits you.

Truly flexible
On Tuesdays we're together at the office, the rest of the week you work remotely. You work your contract hours, but when and how you do that is up to you. Early bird, night owl, picking the kids up from school at 3 pm: we don't mind. And working from abroad for a few weeks now and then? No problem either.
No chasing billable hours
We don't have heavy commercial targets. We'd rather do work that's worth doing, and do it well.
From the founder
Why we don't chase hours
TTamaraFounder, i-spark
I've worked in consultancy and secondment for over 25 years. I was 23 when I was first seconded and someone charged an hourly rate for me.
And when I had a cold, I was torn. Stay home, and you let your employer down. Go to work, and your client doesn't get the full hundred percent. So what's fair?
I promised myself back then that I would never pass that on as an employer.
With us, anyone can always book hours as internal or lost if they feel they weren't productive for whatever reason, or if they made a mistake. You won't get any grief from me about that. Mistakes are human, and as far as I'm concerned the client doesn't have to pay for them.
The team
Who we are
i-spark is a data and AI consultancy from the northern Netherlands. We help clients get their data in order and actually do something with it.
A small team
10 people today25 at most
We're a team of about ten people and in the long run we want to grow to 25 at most. You work with everyone. On Tuesday mornings the whole team discusses the questions of the moment. Beyond that, you talk to colleagues on Slack, on the phone or during a walk.
i-spark's founder
Hands-onRegular one-on-ones
Tamara, the founder, does hands-on work herself and has regular one-on-ones with everyone. So you can always go to her.
Onboarding
No IT department
You get onboarded, but you'll stand on your own feet fairly quickly. And if the printer breaks, there's no IT department to file a ticket with: you try to fix it yourself first. You have to enjoy that.
Our values
IntegrityCraftsmanshipHarmony
We work from an ethical framework of nine values that we wrote ourselves. It rests on three pillars: doing what is right, practising our craft well and treating people as people. In practice that means being open about the choices we make, delivering reliable work and looking after each other's wellbeing, including when it comes to work pace and rest. That's why we sometimes say no to an assignment, and sometimes yes to one that earns less.
Life at i-spark
A Tuesday at i-spark
Our office is a separate building attached to Tamara's house, with its own front door, a kitchen and two floors of workspaces. On Tuesdays everyone is there.
8:00 to 10:00ArriveMost people arrive between 9 and 10; the early birds are in by 8.
MorningTeam sessionThe whole team discusses open questions.
Around noonLunch togetherAt the kitchen table in Tamara's house. That lunch is usually made by Tamara's mother.
AfternoonWork or walkWe often walk as a team too, or one-on-one with Tamara: as a check-in, to brainstorm or just to catch up.
Around 5 pmHeading homeEveryone heads home.
After hoursWe're big padel fans, so if you like it too, you'll be on the court in no time. And we enter a company team in the 4 Mijl van Groningen, even though we're not that big.
