We're hiring at i-spark

New projects are coming, and we want the right people in place as that happens!

1 ) Open application: Data & AI Professional

You bring the curiosity and the willingness to make a call. We’ll bring the flexibility!

i-spark is small on purpose, partly because we like it that way, and partly because it lets us be the kind of place we set out to build. It leaves room to know the people around you, to do your work properly, and to have a real say in how your week goes.

You would be joining a team that cares about the work and about each other, and we would be glad to have you.

Who we are

i-spark is a data and AI consultancy. We help clients get their data in order and put it to work, including the careful preparation that serious AI actually depends on.

Underneath all of it sits a nine-value ethical framework we built and hold ourselves to. It rests on three foundations: doing what we believe is right, doing the work with real craft, and treating people as people.

In practice, that shows up as integrity and transparency about the choices we make, craftsmanship and reliability in how we deliver, and real care for each other's well-being, pace and room to recover included. It is the backbone of who we are, and it is why we say no to some work and take on other work that pays us less.

A day at the office

If you're wondering what a day here actually looks like, here it is. Our office is attached to Tamara's house, and most of us get in between 9 and 10. The early birds are here by 8.

We work through the morning, maybe a meeting or two, and around 12 we stop and sit down together at the living room table for lunch, usually cooked by Tamara's mother. Once we've eaten and caught up with each other, you either head back to your desk to carry on with the day's projects or go for a walk. We do team walks and one-on-one walks with Tamara too, which double as a check-in, a brainstorm, or just a catch-up, depending on the week.

Then it's back to finish up, maybe a coffee or two, and we say our goodbyes around 17:00. We’re also big on padel, so if you’re a fan, expect some competition there!

What you get beyond basic benefits:

- Fair and market-aware compensation, depending on your experience
- Flexibility you feel in your actual day: roughly one day a week we are together in the office, the rest is remote, and beyond that you work when it suits your life.
- Early riser, night owl, school run at 3 PM; we care that the work is good, not that you sat at a desk between fixed hours.
- And no heavy commercial targets breathing down your neck. We are human first, and we would rather do work worth doing and do it well than chase billable hours for their own sake.

The work

Day-to-day, you would work across a modern data stack: Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, dbt, git, and visualisation in tools like Power BI. Data preparation for AI runs through more and more of what we do, so that sits close to the centre.

We expect a working baseline of SQL and/or Python. Past that, what you already know counts for less than how you think and how curious you are. Tools can be picked up, and for juniors that is exactly how it tends to go. Bring a good mindset and a real appetite to figure things out, and we can teach you the rest.

Who we're hoping to meet

We are opening this up widely, from someone fresh out of a degree to someone who could grow into a partner or help run the place. What we are really after is a person who brings:

- Decisiveness. You are willing to make the call without waiting to be handed one. When something needs deciding, you weigh it, and you choose.
- Proportionality. You can feel whether a solution is worth the effort and the cost to the client. You know when something is good enough, and when it is worth pushing further.
- Genuine tech curiosity. You experiment in your own time. Maybe you have automated something at home, or you have a hobby project you keep coming back to. You like knowing how things work.
- Security and governance awareness. Your curiosity carries a sense of responsibility. You are careful with data, and you understand what is at stake when you are not.
- English proficiency is required.

Want to talk?

New projects are coming, and we want the right people in place as that happens.

If any of this sounds like you, reach out to elenamateva@i-spark.nl with your CV, motivation and a description of the role you expect to fill.

We are glad to talk specifics directly.

2 ) Internship at i-spark

Bring your curiosity, and we’ll help you turn it into a final product.

Previous interns have come from data, marketing, and security backgrounds. We structure the internship around what you’re studying and what you want to get out of it.

An internship here is meant to be worth your time as much as ours. That means real work you can point to afterwards, honest feedback, and the room to learn.

What you get

- Real work in your field, shaped around your interests and your study.<BR - Time and support to learn, with people around you who are glad to explain things and answer questions.
- Flexible duration, so the internship fits your university's requirements
- A possible bonus, depending on timing: while you're here, you might get to be involved in one of the larger European projects we work on. We can't promise it; it comes down to what's live at the time, but when it lines up, it's a great thing to be part of.

Who we're hoping to meet

We're open to students from a range of studies. We look for:

- Curiosity. You like figuring out how things work, and you're happy to stay with a problem until it makes sense.

- Initiative. You're willing to try something and make a call, without waiting to be told every step.

- Care. You want to do things properly, and you take ownership of what's yours.

- A field you're keen on. Data, marketing, security, or something adjacent so that you can spend your time on work you actually care about. Some comfort with the tools of your field helps, but your attitude and curiosity are much more appreciated.

- English proficiency is required.
