Data & AI professional

Leek, Netherlands · Active vacancy

Send us your CV, short description of yourself and your motivation.

About the role

You bring the curiosity and the willingness to make a call. We’ll bring the flexibility.

i-spark is small on purpose, partly because we like it that way, and partly because it lets us be the kind of place we set out to build. It leaves room to know the people around you, to do your work properly, and to have a real say in how your week goes.

You would be joining a team that cares about the work and about each other, and we would be glad to have you.

Who we're hoping to meet

We care more about how you work than who you are on paper.

Thinking from the client’s side. You put yourself in the client’s shoes and sense whether a fix is worth 2 hours or 2 days. Does the investment justify itself, in cost, in risk, in time? You default to the option that makes sense for that client, not automatically the most thorough one.

You’re comfortable with client contact. Some direct client contact comes with the role, so being at ease in that setting matters.

An adjacent background is fine. You don’t need a strict data background. Real interest in data counts for more than a data-specific résumé.

Dutch and English. You can hold a conversation in both.

Nice to have: interest or experience in data governance, security, or privacy, things like data sovereignty, open versus closed AI models, or self-hosting decisions. A plus, not a requirement.

The work

Day-to-day, you would work across a modern data stack: Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, dbt, git, and visualisation in tools like Power BI. Data preparation for AI runs through more and more of what we do, so that sits close to the centre.

We expect a working baseline of SQL and/or Python. Past that, what you already know counts for less than how you think and how curious you are. Tools can be picked up, and for juniors that is exactly how it tends to go. Bring a good mindset and a real appetite to figure things out, and we can teach you the rest.

What you get beyond the basics

Flexibility you feel in your actual day: roughly one day a week we are together in the office, the rest is remote, and beyond that you work when it suits your life.

Early riser, night owl, school run at 3 PM; we care that the work is good, not that you sat at a desk between fixed hours.

And no heavy commercial targets breathing down your neck. We are human first, and we would rather do work worth doing and do it well than chase billable hours for their own sake.

Who we are

i-spark is a data and AI consultancy. We help clients get their data in order and put it to work, including the careful preparation that serious AI actually depends on.

Underneath all of it sits a nine-value ethical framework we built and hold ourselves to. It rests on three foundations: doing what we believe is right, doing the work with real craft, and treating people as people.

In practice, that shows up as integrity and transparency about the choices we make, craftsmanship and reliability in how we deliver, and real care for each other’s well-being, pace and room to recover included. It is the backbone of who we are, and it is why we say no to some work and take on other work that pays us less.

A day in the i-spark office

Our office is attached to our founder Tamara’s house, and most of us get in between 9 and 10. The early birds are here by 8.

In the morning we might have a meeting or two, and around 12 we stop and sit down together at the living room table for lunch, usually cooked by Tamara’s mother. Afterwards you either carry on or go for a walk. We do team walks and one-on-one walks with Tamara too, which double as a check-in, a brainstorm, or just a catch-up.

Then it’s back to work, maybe a coffee or two, and around 17:00 we head home. We’re also big on padel, so if you’re a fan, expect some competition there.
