Data Generalist

Leek, Netherlands · Medior to Senior · Active vacancy

Send us your CV, short description of yourself and your motivation.

About the role

Someone with broad expertise across the data landscape, whose credibility with clients comes from genuinely knowing the work.

You’d fill a real gap on the team, working close to clients and close to where i-spark is heading.

What the role involves

  • Client-facing. You represent i-spark in front of clients, and you’re someone they trust quickly.
  • A say in strategy. Beyond client work, you help shape i-spark’s own direction and where the company goes next.
  • Project leadership. Leading projects is a core, expected part of the role.
  • Hands-on delivery too. You do real data project work, data engineering, dashboarding, whatever fits, alongside the client-facing and strategic side.

Who we're hoping to meet

  • An adjacent background is fine. We’re open to people from adjacent fields like IT or business economics, as long as the affinity and capability for data work is there.
  • Dutch and English. You can hold a conversation in both.
  • HBO or WO level. A relevant field of study is preferred. A different background works too when it comes with genuine interest in data and IT, through self-study, side projects, or courses.
  • Nice to have: interest or experience in data governance, security, or privacy. A plus, not a requirement.

What you get beyond the basics

Flexibility you feel in your actual day: roughly one day a week we are together in the office, the rest is remote, and beyond that you work when it suits your life.

Early riser, night owl, school run at 3 PM; we care that the work is good, not that you sat at a desk between fixed hours.

And no heavy commercial targets breathing down your neck. We are human first, and we would rather do work worth doing and do it well than chase billable hours for their own sake.

Who we are

i-spark is a data and AI consultancy. We help clients get their data in order and put it to work, including the careful preparation that serious AI actually depends on.

Underneath all of it sits a nine-value ethical framework we built and hold ourselves to. It rests on three foundations: doing what we believe is right, doing the work with real craft, and treating people as people.

In practice, that shows up as integrity and transparency about the choices we make, craftsmanship and reliability in how we deliver, and real care for each other’s well-being, pace and room to recover included. It is the backbone of who we are, and it is why we say no to some work and take on other work that pays us less.

A day in the i-spark office

Our office is attached to our founder Tamara’s house, and most of us get in between 9 and 10. The early birds are here by 8.

In the morning we might have a meeting or two, and around 12 we stop and sit down together at the living room table for lunch, usually cooked by Tamara’s mother. Afterwards you either carry on or go for a walk. We do team walks and one-on-one walks with Tamara too, which double as a check-in, a brainstorm, or just a catch-up.

Then it’s back to work, maybe a coffee or two, and around 17:00 we head home. We’re also big on padel, so if you’re a fan, expect some competition there.
